These enemies are very annoying for low level characters, but act as most new players introduction to the confusion status effect. ####Behavior **Chase Phase** The Sand Devil pursues nearby players, attempting to close the distance while firing Dark Gray Spinners. After 3 seconds, it will transition to **Circle Phase**. It will wander erratically if it moves within 2 tiles of the player. **Circle Phase** The Sand Devil will maintain a distance of 3 tiles from the player. It will rotate clockwise for 3 seconds, and then return to **Chase Phase**. Sand Devils are the first monster a new player will typically encounter that can inflict **Confusion**, the dangerous status effect that changes your movement controls for the duration.

Their shots have the wavy property, meaning they wave back and forth at greater intensity the further they travel, making them harder to dodge the further away you are. However, they are easy to dodge at close range.

If you get confused, do not panic. It only lasts one second and the damage is negligable unless you have 0 DEF. However, make sure to kill these foes if you are near more dangerous enemies such as a mob of sandmen. Confusion could make you run right into them and take heavy damage you didn't intend to take.
