Why do people hate the idea of a UT weekend so much?

#1

I’ve read a post about someone wanting a UT weekend, I’m for it, but it got a lot of back-lash saying that this dude just wanted to buy a Jugg from a rwt site. I see a lot of arguments saying that if we do have a UT weekend, that the economy will crash, is this true? Yes. But is the rotmg economy a concern for Deca Games? NO. THE ECONOMY IS MADE BY SUPPLY AND DEMAND. If a DUPER is going to DUPE a bunch of Juggs, in-order to sell them is that fair? No. Is it fair to NEVER have an event because of some bad apples in the bunch? NO. Stop being so selfish and maybe embrace the idea of possibly getting a UT you want. If the economy is such a precious gem, why hasn’t Deca embraced it and tried to fix it. They made a chest even in the OT, therefore the price of mana dropped terribly, Deca didn’t care about the economical angle, so why should they care if a UT weekend ruins the economy when the economy isn’t even a concern? Devs please respond with your answer.

When can we trade UT"S Again?
UT Weekend! GOOD or BAD for the game?!

Imma just tell you that the devs aren’t going to respond

Oh, hey, I’m pretty sure that was me.

Life isn’t fair. Get the f*** over it. Seriously. DECA doesn’t care about the economical factor INGAME. They care about the economic factor out of the game, aka the money they make.

If they bring a UT weekend, RWT sites are basically going to make enough money to the point where they are potential competitors.

If event/shatters whites get over-duped, they won’t be special anymore. You would be able to get them for just a few life, like an ST item. That takes away a lot from the game. Like it or not, RNG is what makes this game fun and unique, and it is what keeps many people playing. Sure, i’d give anything for a Jugg, but I want to earn it the hard way because it’s worth all the time and effort of farming. Rare whites are like trophies. Their rarity gives them value.

Also, rwt sites would explode into an even bigger problem than they currently present. Deca would lose profit as a result because many more people would funnel their money into these sites instead of using it for legit in-game purchases.

#5

This. I’m not sure how much impact it would have re RWT sites, but it would destroy one of the main incentives for playing, the chance of getting rare items. When everything can be bought and sold then there are no real achievements. Everyone can have whatever items they want with $, whether from RWT or by buying items and boxes for things to trade.

#6

What you’re saying is countering each other… just saying.

Developers are not affiliated with this website

Yeah, it is. Bad economy = less players = less money.

Wha? How is keeping the game legit selfish?

They did that to attract old and new players to the game, and it worked out so they are continuing to make more chest events.

Just letting everyone know my prediction, this thread is going to get heated if everyone talks down ut weekend down here.

cough cough

If UTs can’t be traded then a lot of them are going to get fed to pets or lost upon death, thus keeping the overall amount of UTs being used in the game at any given time in check.

If they can be traded then they’ll naturally flow towards the people who can keep them the longest (either because they have actual skill or just because they cheat and/or stay in the fame train all day), thus leading to a situation where way too many people have stockpiles of UTs that were supposed to be rare (with the added bonus that they are now a lot easier to dupe).

The overall player base is already overpowered for the game’s content, I don’t think we really need to make things worse.

#9

Just to add: DECA are already doing exactly what is needed, WRT not being able to trade UTs. They are adding new content. Some of this is tradable, some not, so they are adding more opportunities to trade at the same time as adding more things that can only be gotten through gameplay. I.e. something for everyone.

#10

I now know this. Thanks for somewhat positive input.

#11

Why doesn’t DECA attempt to get these websites shut down? Also, if the RWT sites are “competition” what the hell are they going to do? Buy the game? Sell more items?

#12

I’m currently building a megapost that will give like 50 reasons why UT weekend is a terrible idea. Stay tuned.

I cant wait.

Bring Back UT Weekend
An honest, thoughtful discussion regarding UTs
#15

To be honest, I am quite happy that UTs are untradeable. What makes UTs so special? What’s special about a white bag? The rarity and how hard it is to obtain one. I think it is essential for the game to have a set of special items which can only be obtained through hard work, and not buying/selling.
I am not taking third party websites into my viewpoint though I know it would also ruin the economy.
Back in the day, Demon Blades were worth around 200 Def pots. If converted to life, it’d be around 33 life, and then converted to 4 Deca rings, which in my opinion is a massive amount for a Demon Blade. They are quite common if you grind them hard enough like me. Players would have no idea how much a UT would be worth, and destroy the market.

Anyway
Even if they were to be tradeable, it would also ruin the incentive for many players.
Sure, I can pay many deca rings for a Jugg or an Ogmur, and so would many others but in that case anyone can. People who spend a lot of money on the game can eventually build their way up to a rare UT. In any way like buying tops in the nexus (Cringe) or rolling the Mystery Box a thousand times, they are guaranteed to buy UTs.
Once again, a special set of items should always be limited to a certain amount of players who try hard to get them.

PS- Been trying to get a Jugg for about 4 years, never gonna happen zzzz

#16

Would you rather get a jugg in 20 seconds?

#17

Because that would be a gigantic waste of time and money.

RWT sites are fundamentally parasitic in nature. If too much of the money that goes into RotMG gets funneled into the pockets of the owners of these sites, that’s a lot less money for Deca and potentially them having to shut down the game because it’s no longer profitable.

When talking about tradability of UTs, it always comes to mind that we can basically separate the community in two types of players: the ones that play for the experience and the ones that play for collectables.
  • The ones that play for the experience care about pewpewing everything around them and watching all the enemies go boom. RotMG, to those people, is about that stupid fun of running around killing whatever is in sight and not worry about anything else. They don’t want any kind system getting in their way of killing stuff as efficiently as possible and so they want it to be easy to acquire whatever they need to be best they can be. UTs, for them, serve the purpose of making the gameplay more varied. Those people normally are in favor of UTs being tradable;
  • The ones that play for collectables care about seeing that shiny white bag appear when an enemies goes boom. RotMG, to those people, is about having their work compensated by getting something that most players can’t easily get. They want to make sure that the only way to get the itens they have is to spend about the same time they themselves have spent in the game. UTs, for them, serve the purpose of a prize to be shown and maybe envied. Those people normally are against UTs being tradable.

Now, these definitions are not binary, you can very well play for the the experience and the collectables (or you can play for neither). Most players I think will show varying degrees of both interests. Also, keep in mind those are not the only deciding factors to consider when talking about the commerciality of UTs.

The real question is: how to conciliate these two types of players?

The Choice to Play Realm is a Mad One

BTW Everyone would love a UT weekend, but deca will not allow it

Deca does not care shit about the economy.

It’s not the fact that they don’t want dupers to see them, they want a boundary line between snobby merchers and actual players. Uts are what encourage people to go in realms.

If anything, you are the selfish one, go farm your ut instead of buy it. I will expand on this in another post.

But…
St = Ut
