Every few seconds, it moves towards the closest player’s last location, then remains stationary for another few seconds whilst firing 4-directional white spikes, before repeating the process.

Running away from this enemy in the same direction that it is charging at you is the most dangerous strategy possible, as the enemy will likely sit on you and will pop you in 2-3 hits (less than 1 second).
Strafing perpendicular to its travel location is most wise.
When with other players, it is important to keep track of player positions to avoid running to an about-to-be death trap.
