The Phylactery Bearer is a minion that is spawned when a Lich absorbs enough damage during evaluation. It is moderately powerful and tries to follow the Lich to heal it. After taking significant damage, it will turn invulnerable and move around erratically for a few seconds.

Do not be tricked that standing with the group that buffed the Lich will protect you - many a new player has died fighting the Lich area because of this.
Don't stand in one place, or they will mob on you, and you will die. Dodge and weave the shots until the Lich is dead.
Obviously if you're maxed def, you needn't worry.
