Behavior

Several of these surround the Killer Bee Nest. They constantly fire radial bursts of Blue Hive Shots while tossing various bombs, and they frequently heal the Boss for large amounts of health.

At first, they will have a swarm of Nest Colony Guardians surrounding them that fire at nearby players and heal them for large amounts of health. They will also spawn Small Worker Bees at a moderate pace. They permanently have the Armored effect, resulting in 80 DEF.

Once at 1/2 HP, they will turn invulnerable for a short time, spawn in a large group of Nest Colony Guardians, and change their behavior. Now, they will fire spirals of Yellow Hive Shots and radial bursts of Red Hive Shots while throwing Red Bombs. Once this occurs, the Nest Colony Guardians will promptly heal the Colony to full health again.

If the Killer Bee Nest enters its second phase, they will flash red and begin firing streams of Blue Hive Balls in the four cardinal directions while lobbing White Bombs and occassionally shooting rings of Yellow Hive Balls. Once at 1/2 HP, they will turn invulnerable for a short time, before replacing their Blue Hive Balls with Red Hive Balls. They will not spawn any Nest Colony Guardians.

When destroyed, the Colony will explode into a massive nova of various Hive Shots and spawn a swarm of Nest Colony Guardians.

If any Nest Colonies are alive when the final Beehemoth “consumes” the Killer Bee Nest, they will slowly shrink while flashing red. Additionally, they will not fire off their nova.

Tips and Strategies

It is heavily advised to destroy most, if not all of the Nest Colonies before attacking the Killer Bee Nest. Not only do the Colonies heal the Nest for large amounts of health and summon minions that assist it, they will continue to lob bombs and fire on players during the chaotic fight with the Beehemoths, which can be detrimental to players.

When fighting them, destroy all the Nest Colony Guardians first. They heal the Colonies at an extremely fast rate, and the Colony is nearly invincible until you cut off the healing.

Besides that, the Colonies have very high DEF. Armor-piercing attacks are highly effective on them.

Be especially careful when they are nearing death: when killed, they will explode into a massive ring of various shots that can deal heavy damage to anyone standing too close to them.

One strategy can be to push the Killer Bee Nest into its second phase to stop the Colonies from spawning anymore Nest Colony Guardians, as well as making their shot pattern easier to dodge, possibly allowing Knights to Stun them, making them many times easier to destroy.
