How to find the Nest

Killer Bee Nest
The Nest can be dropped by the Killer Bee Nest, an event boss which has a chance to spawn once per realm. This event sports 100,000 HP and 40 DEF, has protective nest colonies surrounding it and summons three deadly Beehemoths throughout the fight. It can be spotted on the map as a hot pink/magenta dot. For tips and strategies, see the Killer Bee Nest page.

Loot and Purpose

Potion of DexterityGreater Potion of Dexterity Potion of DefensePotion of Life
The Nest is a great source of Potions of Dexterity and Greater Potions of Dexterity, as both bosses and even certain minions can drop at least some Dex. The Nest is also a good source of Potions of Life, at least before later endgame dungeons. Finally, the treasure room can drop a Potion of Defense, a nice bonus, but not a main reason to run this dungeon.

Queen's StingerBeekeeper's Flamethrower
The Nest can drop two different UT weapons from their respective bosses. The Queen’s Stinger dropping from the main boss is a good situational UT. It can be seen as an upgrade to the Bone Dagger, having roughly the same damage, the same piercing ability, and the new ability of being able to armor pierce. This dagger can be good for crowd clearing and attacking high DEF enemies. Meanwhile, the Beekeeper’s Flamethrower is a drop from the treasure room boss. It acts similarly to Lumiaire, boasting high damage along with a consistent rate of fire and armor piercing ability, but is greatly hindered by its slow shot speed. This morning star fits well with the aggressive playstyle of the Nest’s mace UT.

Hivemaster HelmHivemind Mace
These UT’s are abilities that mainly focus on aggressive playstyles. The Hivemaster Helm is a powerful helm that inflicts Curse Curse on enemies, allowing for higher damage output for both individual use and in general, although the effect can be inconsistent at times. The Hivemind Mace, dropping only from the treasure room boss, is a powerful mace that requires a more aggressive style of attack. The shots from the bees it summons do lots of damage, but the shots are also very slow. Additionally, you can’t control the bees with your cursor, as they instead orbit your location, forcing you get to get closer to enemies in order to get the full damage.

Beehemoth Armor
The Beehemoth Armors sacrifice DEF for SPD, increasing leather classes’ mobility. They are outclassed in a later dungeon, but are still viable when one simply does not have the upgrade.

Nectar CrossfireHoneytomb SnareApiary ArmorHoney Circlet
The Nest can drop all the pieces of the Swarming Huntress Set for the Huntress class. Half the pieces drop from various minions, while the other half drop from the bosses. The set provides high increases to DPS, with the downside of wavy shots that are hard to land.

Killer Bee Queen Pet Stone
The main boss has a rare chance of dropping the Killer Bee Queen Pet Skin, which looks quite nice.

Layout and Navigation Throughout the Dungeon

The Nest Example Layout

Going through The Nest should be relatively easy - if you know what you are doing. If you want to go straight for the boss, taking the path in the direction of the quest marker will be your best bet. Rooms shaped like an “X” and rooms shaped like an elbow always mean you are on the main path headed to boss. Alternatively, you can skim the dungeon for the treasure room first; try to keep moving north, as the entrance will always be pointing up. The treasure room will always be the second room off of the main path, and can only be found in one of these two rooms:

Clover and Honeycomb room

There will be pools of Killer Honey in most of the rooms. Try to avoid walking through it, as it will deal armor piercing damage as well as slow you down, similar to quicksand. Whenever you enter a new room, your priorities should be as follows:
1) take out the small killer bees and larvae.
2) hunt down the large soldier bees. Keep your distance and retreat to previous rooms if you have to.
3) Kill any remaining Mini Killer Bee Nests.

If you go the right way, you will reach the boss after 5 rooms.

Enemies

Most of the enemies will fire one of three color bullets: red, yellow or blue. Each of these colors has a few status effects associated with it:

Keep in mind that some bullets just deal pure damage.

Small Worker Bee
These bees will wander around shooting invisible slowing shots. They pose little to no threat normally and should die in one hit. They are deadly only during the stinger phase of the Killer Bee Queen, where having enough speed to rotate is necessary to survival.

Blue Larva Red Larva Yellow Larva Maggot Egg
The Blue, Red and Yellow Larvae will be spawned in swarms whenever a Maggot Egg is destroyed. They rush towards the player firing a flurry of shots. The Blue Larva will Pet Stasis, the Red will armor break and the Yellow will paralyze you. Keep your distance and they will run into your shots and die.

Blue Killer Bee Red Killer Bee Yellow Killer Bee
The Killer Bees can be found throughout most rooms. They are not very dangerous alone but can pose quite a threat in groups as the damage their stingers deal will add up over time. The Blue Killer Bee will weaken you for 2 seconds and The Red Killer Bee fires an 80 damage armor piercing shot. All the stingers pierce through players.

Blue Soldier Bee
This is one of the three most dangerous enemies you will encounter on your way to the boss or treasure room. All three soldier bees spawn killer bees in their respective color. The Blue Soldier Bee’s shots can weaken, quiet and pet stasis. When first approached they will be relatively stationary, shooting spirals of 60 damage (quieting) shuriken shots, and throwing weakening blue bombs at you. When they flash white, knights can stun them. At 25% hp they will flash red and enter a “rage phase,” knights can also stun soldier bees at this point. They will retreat to a Mini Killer Bee Nest (if there is one closeby) and heal to full. They will then float around for 3 seconds, then jump at the nearest player (or decoy) while firing a barrage of shots. Keeping your distance here is absolutely key. DO NOT run at Blue Soldier Bees, just wait until it jumps and strafe backwards, making it run into your shots. If it doesn’t die the first time it jumps at you, the process will be repeated. During this phase, the Soldier Bee will summon Enraged Blue Killer Bees instead of normal killer bees. The enraged killer bees deal less damage but take longer to kill.

Red Soldier Bee
These guys are a pain in the beehind. Their shots armor pierce, armor break, and confuse. At first, they will exhibit behavor similar to their blue counterparts, firing confuse shurikens. Knights should do their best to stun them when possible (white flash upon first shooting, and the red flash right before they rage). During rage phase (25% hp), they circle around the player (which usually gets them stuck along walls in hallways), firing shots that confuse and armor break. The strategy here is to run away from the enemy away from the walls, shooting at it. Circling these guys is tricky, as they have predictive movement (basically, they know where you will run to next). Instead, try to move through cleared rooms until they die. Unlike the Blue and Yellow Soldier Bees, the Red Soldier Bee does not spawn Enraged Killer Bees during its rage phase, only regular killer bees.

Yellow Soldier Bee
The Yellow Soldier Bees are probably the easiest of the three soldier bees. Don’t be fooled though, they can still be as deadly as the others. Their shots paralyze and daze players. As opposed to the other soldiers, they don’t stand still (but can still be stunned when they flash white). They will try to chase you instantly throwing dazing bombs and firing circles of paralyzing shurikens. Try to dodge these at all costs, but if you do get hit and there’s no other dangers in your vicinity, you should be able to get away safely once the paralyze wears off. If there is a horde of other bees coming at you and you can’t get away, nexus. As the other two bees, yellow soldier bees can be stunned when they flash white before rage phase. During their rage phase, they will chase you in a faster and more focused fashion, if possible maintain your distance at all times. It is possible to circle or decoy them, just make sure you dodge all of the paralysis. Like the Blue Soldier Bee, the Yellow Soldier Bee will spawn Enraged Yellow Killer Bees during its second phase. The enraged killer bees deal less damage but take longer to kill.

Mini Killer Bee Nest
These bad boys are usually the last to survive when you are clearing a room. They are immobile but fire a collection of shots that can armor pierce, daze, weak and pet stasis. They also throw red bombs which armor break for 4 seconds, be aware of those. They summon killer bees every few seconds and turn invulnerable often. Just keep your distance and they shouldn’t be too much of a hassle. Just like the soldier bees, these can be stunned when they flash.

Killer Bee Queen

Killer Bee Queen
Strap in and buckle up because this is going to be one hell of a ride. This boss has no less than 22 unique shots, 4 different bombs and 8 phases. First of all, when you enter the boss room, make sure to kill all of the larvae and killer bees present as they can be dangerous when a giant queen bee is coming at you. You can safely clear them without activating the boss as long as you stay on the outer ring of the room. Once she is in phase 2, all passages to the room will be submerged with Killer Honey. In her first phase, she circles around the room, throwing blue quiet bombs around her, white daze bombs at players and firing red, yellow and blue stingers in three directions. In this phase, it is best to circle around the room with her while dodging her shots, if you have the speed. Otherwise, stay along the edges and shoot at her when she comes around. This shouldn’t take too long.

When enough damage is dealt, she begins her first color phase, spawning Small Worker Bees and alternates between 3 attack patterns:

  • Red: she will chase players firing red stinger shotguns and throwing red confuse bombs. She will also spawn Red Killer Bees. Move around the room shooting her, trying to keep as much distance as you can.
  • Blue: she will circle around the room, firing blue silencing stingers and throwing quiet bombs. She will spawn Blue Killer Bees throughout this phase. Circle around the room with her and dodge the shots as best as you can. Knights (if able) should back up if the queen chooses blue, as she is able to be stunned as soon as she is pushed to the next phase.
  • Yellow: she will chase players shooting a spiral of paralyzing orbs, yellow stingers, and daze bombs. Keep your distance and avoid the small stingers, as they paralyze as well.

If enough damage is not dealt, she will choose another color and repeat the phase until pushed.

Once she takes enough damage, phase 3 begins. Knights can stun as soon as she flashes white and starts to head towards the center of the room, and daze can similarily be inflicted for a safer run. If she is not stunned, she will shoot out an unavoidable circle of armor breaking shots. She will then shoot colored orbs which paralyze, pet stasis and confuse. She will also throw daze bombs in 4 directions. Prioritize dodging the orbs though, by circling around her, moving up and down to move through the waves of shots. Be prepared to switch to confuse controls in case you catch a red orb. If you don’t know how to confuse control, this dungeon is not for you.

When the threshold is reached, the next phase initiates. Here, she will shoot bursts of rotating 3 shurikens in 4 directions. The yellows paralyze, the reds armor break and the blues silence. Once again, circle in between the waves, making sure you dodge the yellow shots, as hitting those can be fatal.

She will flash white immediately before starting the next phase, knights should do their best to stun here. She then begins her second color phase, where she spawns a few killer bees and switches between 3 attack patterns again:

  • Red: she will make small circles in the middle of the room, firing 4 streams of red confusing orbs, as well as armor piercing shurikens. Dodge within the streams as best you can, and prioritize dodging her shotgun of 3 armor piercing teardrops. They deal 240 damage and can easily kill you if you hit them all. Try to strafe left and right, and dont be afraid to cross the stream of orbs if necessary.
  • Blue: She will slowly chase the nearest player around the room, firing a barrage of blue pet stasis, quiet, and silencing shots. Keep your distance and circle the room, trying to keep the queen on the edge of your screen. This way you should be able to avoid most of her shots.
  • Yellow: She will float around the middle of the room, firing waves of paralyze and slow shots, as well as daze bombs. You can micrododge here, mostly staying in one place, as the phase doesnt deal too much damage. Prioritize on avoiding the shots that paralyze.

When she has taken enough damage, stinger phase starts. This is the most dangerous of them all, so be very alert at all times. The boss will move to the center of the room, spawn three Killer Bee Nests along the edge. She will then shoot out shotguns of stingers that start from the top and bottom of the room that rotate clockwise. Avoid these at all costs. To begin this phase safely, stand in the bottom right and top left corners of the room, and begin rotating clowkwise with the stingers. If you get caught in the wave of shots, nexus. The three nests spawn Small Worker Bees that slow, as well as shoot rotating streams of teardrop shots that daze (yellow), armor pierce (red), or weak (blue). Knights can stun the killer bee nests to keep this phase safer. Circle around the boss and try to stay close to her, as you will be able to move away from the shotgun faster. When you kill one of the nests, it will continue to shoot out small waves of debuff shots until the phase ends. This phase ends when you either kill two of the nests, or when time runs out.

Once 2 nests are dead, (or they hatch because you weren’t fast enough) beehemoths of their respective killer bee nest color (e.g. the red killer bee nests spawn red bees) will come out and surround the boss, and she will start her second to last phase. The queen will choose a nest, and begin her 3rd and last color phase:

  • Red: she will circle around the room and fire red stingers, teardrop shots and confuse bombs. The beehemoths will orbit her closely during this phase. Cirlce along and try to dodge all the shots.
  • Blue: she will continuously charge at the nearest player. It’s safest to pull her around the room in a circle, or perma decoy as a trickster if you can. Be wary of the quieting and silence shots if you choose the latter strategy. The beehemoths will follow her movement. Keep your distance if you can, this is where ranged classes shine.
  • Yellow: she will move to the center of the room, she then throws waves of slowing and paralyze shots, as well as daze bombs. The beehemoths will be circling along the edge of the room, so try to keep in between them and the boss. Move in between the paralyze spirals and you should be fine. Do your best to prioritize dodging the daze shots to best avoid a repeat of this color phase, it wont hurt to tank a few shots.

If you don’t push her to the next phase, she will choose a new color until she is damaged out. The beehemoths will heal themselves and the queen throughout the phase.

Finally, in the last phase (also known as “chest” phase), the queen will be in the center of the room firing waves of stingers. The beehemoths will circle her firing their own stingers and shurikens, You can kill or stun them during the entirety of this phase. Just circle or stay in one place dodging the shots until she dies. This is by far the safest phase as long as you dont get ran over by unstunned beehemoths. Once you defeat her, the remaining beehemoths will explode into circles of shurikens, and you can collect your loot! Congrats :)

The Beekeeper

The Beekeeper
The Beekeeper is the boss of the treasure room. Fortunately for us, most players find him a lot easier than the main boss. Once you find the treasure room and enter it, he will begin his first phase. He chases the nearest player while firing a stream of flamethrower shots, as well as slowing shots. The most dangerous part of this boss are the stationary fires that he places around the room, which deal armor piercing damage and armor break for 4.5 seconds. These can kill you in seconds, so don’t sit on them. Just circle around the room and he will follow you around. Keep slows on the beekeeper as best as you can.

The second phase is very similar to the first, but instead of a single flamethrower stream, there are four. Killer bees will spawn also around him the sides of the room, but they deal minimal damage. Keep him slowed and you can easily damage him to the next phase, weaving between his flamethrower shots.

When phase three begins, he will move to the back of the room. Knights should keep him stunned, but if unable he will a single flamethrower stream. He will spawn a pattern of fires around the room, and two experimental soldier bees of the same color will join the fight. They are similar to the regular soldier bees, but they have much more health and no rage phase, so focus on damaging the boss instead. He will circle around the room until dead.

Once he is defeated, the bees will explode and you can collect any loot!

Overview

The Nest is a fairly difficult endgame dungeon with several debuffs and dangerous shots, but an abundance of Dex and quite a few powerful UT items.
