When used, spawns Donner, who speaks “Happy Holidays!” in the chat, and follows the player in the manner of a pet for 30 seconds before disappearing.
During Christmas/Yuletide events a temporary stat boost is conferred on the player whenever the Reins item is used. The item can be used at other times of year but it will not provide any stat increases.
The level of boost from Donner’s Reins (+20 VIT) is some way higher than wearing the highest tiered vitality ring, Ring of Unbound Vitality (+10 VIT). This can occasionally be useful for any class when undergoing constant Pet Stasis to provide a short-term increase in HP replenishment rate.
The 20 points of VIT provided by this item approximately translates to an extra 2.4 HP replenished per second, equalling 72 HP over the 30 seconds, assuming you never hit max HP throughout the time the buff is active. For more information see DEF vs HP vs VIT.
