Behavior

Esben the Unwilling has 4 phases.

Phase 1:

Esben stays in the center of the room, rapidly alternating between the following attacks:
- A two-armed spiral of armor piercing bullets.
- An omnidirectional wave of sound waves that inflict Unstable.
- Rapid barrages of armor-piercing ice bursts aimed at the nearest player.
- Wide shotguns of ice bullets that Daze and Quiet you.
Until all of the cursed graves in the room have been destroyed, Esben is completely invulnerable.

Phase 2:

Esben will briefly switch between vulnerable and invulnerable, then fire a lot of the purple armor-piercing shots. After that 8 Creepy Weird Dark Spirit Mirror Image Monsters will spawn around the room and chase the nearest player. Once the minions are defeated, Esben moves on to phase 3.

Phase 3:

Esben will transform into a human, become vulnerable, and plead for you to kill him while running around erratically. Nothing can damage you in this phase; focus all your firepower on Esben.
If not enough damage is done, Esben will begin phase 1 again.

Phase 4:

Esben will transform into a much larger Creepy Weird Dark Spirit Mirror Image Monster and flee from the player. 8 more, much larger Creepy Weird Dark Spirit Mirror Image Monsters will spawn around the room and attempt to surround Esben. Despite their imposing appearance, neither the Monsters nor Esben attack and nothing can damage you in this phase.
This phase lasts until death.

Tips and Strategies

• The destructible ice blocks serve as a shield for Esben’s otherwise hard-to-dodge attacks. Do not destroy them, otherwise Esben’s attacks will become harder to avoid.
• Do not let your guard down when you destroy the graves. If you move in to attack Esben while he’s vulnerable, be aware that he will explode into lots of armor-piercing bullets.
• Don’t get scared in Esben’s final phase! Nothing can harm you, so focus your firepower onto the real Esben and you will be fine.
