Long ago, during an accidental release in build 11, a similar weapon called the Celestial Blade was dropped by the previous version of the black dragon named Thanatos. It was modified to become the Annoying Firecracker Katana for unknown reasons, while the stats and name are the only differences between the two.
It out-damages the Doku no Ken at only <5 def (and does not pierce enemies) so it is mostly useless. You have to get EXTREMELY close to the mob (almost identical to shield stun range), and the heavily lowered damage output as well as the probable spread of the 3 shots makes this a weapon as a potentially effective to use against armor-broken test chests, however other than that, most would consider this weapon as a souvenir, as it is piece of junk when it comes to killing things in actual combat.
