Trivia
Ichimonji literally translates to “straight line”, from the Japanese Kanji 一文字. Ichimonji comes from the term Kiku-ichimonji (菊一文字), which translates to “Chrysanthemum-straight line”. It is a collective name given to the katana made by the thirteen swordsmiths who were in attendance to the Emperor Go-Toba in 1208. Read more about it here.
