Medusa (Rev. 5)

Last updated: 12.1
The Medusa may be one of the hardest Gods to kill, arguably second only to Sprite Gods, mostly because they deal more damage than other gods. The Medusa hangs around in the harder parts of the map and is likely to be surrounded by other high level enemies. To add insult to injury, they can take a large amount of damage while directing the same high amounts of damage back at you. However, Medusas can be easy if you attack them while circling around them, as their attack speed is pretty slow. She is also much more susceptible to flattery and pick-up lines than her lost sister, Stheno, who resides in the Snake Pit.

General Information
  • Medusa's grenade does heavy damage to an area of players, capable of killing multiple "lowbie" characters in just a couple hits. It is recommended to level up to 13-15 and get some decent armor before attempting to join a massive group of players working their way through mountainous regions. Medusa has been known to slaughter HP bars within seconds, making them a good pestkiller against level 1 lowbies that decide to leech onto you on your Godlands expeditions.
Don't be enticed by Medusa. Looks can be deceiving! These tricks have felled many non-maxed characters with medium-high quality armors and weapons. Don't fall for these tricks, learn that no matter what she will stab you in the back and get you one day, and when you see her, remember the combat tricks below.
Combat Tips (8/18/2012)
  • Medusa has two types of attacks. The first is a 'shotgun' blast of 5 green shots. These travel out from her body in a straight cone. The second is a red-colored grenade. The grenade has a huge radius and hits for a destructive 150 damage, the most damage of all the common gods.
  • The key to handling Medusa is staying close. At distance, the green shots spread wide enough to catch you but not quite wide enough to slip between them easily. However, her aim doesn't track well, and if you close in, you can easily circle around her, dodging every shot with ease.
  • The grenade is given away by a short lobbing animation. Make certain to get out of range. To dodge the shots and the grenades, it's best to move around Medusa in a flat oval, rather than a perfect circle. This leads the grenades out wide so you don't get hit.
  • It is possible to weave between the waves of green shots and dodge the grenades, fighting her in a narrow arc rather than a circle. This is a good technique if you have little space to work with, but is much more difficult.
  • Your best tip to fight against Medusa is most likely circling around her, constantly firing. Medusa tries to fire at where you are, not where you will be in 'X' seconds, contrary to the Ent God. This makes circling around her next to a must when fighting her, and easily one of the most used and effective tactics.

Rumor has it that Flying Brain and Medusa were dating, but they broke up...
