Giant Crab

Last updated: Exalt Version 2.2.3.0 (Feb 2022)
Giant Crab

The Giant Crab is a low level Quest Monster that is found in the Lowlands desert.

It is one of the first enemies encountered by new players to introduce aim tracking.

The Realm Eye says:
Giant Crabs have been the sworn enemy of the samurai since ancient times. Many legendary battles took place between daring samurais and the giant enemy crabs.
With their wakizashis, the samurai were able to expose the weak points of the crabs for massive damage.
The ancestors of these giant enemy crabs have not forgotten what the samurai did to their legacy. To this day, they swear revenge upon those who deprived the crabs of their honor.

Behavior

When they spot you, they will chase while firing waves of projectiles to your predicted position. Occasionally, the crab will fire blue projectiles at a frequent pace, but will not track your movement.

Tips and Strategies

The Giant Crab is one of the first enemies that introduces Aim Tracking, a trait to a monster’s attack that allows them to predict where their target is going to be located and firing on that predicted spot.

During the crab’s white beam phase, it will be tracking your movement with a shockwave-like blast of white projectiles that can deal quite a bit of damage if all four connect. In order to avoid taking damage, you will need to fake out the crab.

Move in one direction, then move in the other when the crab is about to attack you. It will fire where it previously predicted you would be and miss you entirely.

During the crab’s blue bolt phase, it will not be tracking your movement but will fire with a much greater dexterity. Circle the crab while attacking it to avoid taking damage.

The damage this crab deals is negligible once you are around 8 DEF.
