Hand of the Helpless

Last updated: X.31.7.0

The hands of the library scribes fell off after the curse was inflicted. On the bright side, they perform delightful hand puppet shows every Thursday.

The Hand of the Helpless is an uncommon enemy found in the Cursed Library.

Behavior

The Hand of the Helpless has a variety of shot patterns, each based on its appearance. Every time it loses ~33% of its HP, it will go invulnerable for a few seconds, then transition to a different pattern, always entering a phase once (i.e. it will not transition to a phase it was previously in). It also gains Armored for about 3 seconds after changing phase.
Rock: Circles in place while slowly throwing a single, heavy-damage bomb identical to itself in appearance.
Paper: Either shoots a V-shaped pattern of Finger Guns while moving somewhat erratically, or single, predicting, Armor Piercing ones while moving quickly and erratically.
Scissors: Chases towards a player’s last position, pauses, then unleashes two sprays of Confused-inflicting Sharpened Fingernails that fly towards the middle of the sprays.

Tips and Strategies

Keep a close eye on its appearance to determine how to fight it. With Rock, you can bait one bomb, move closer to deal damage, then back off when it throws the second one.
With Paper, sidestep the V-shaped pattern, or move in small circles to counter the prediction of the Finger Guns.
With Scissors, try to bait its chase before widely circling it to prevent getting Confused.

Trivia

Two unused sprites are present in the game files as an easter egg: one depicts the Hand with its middle finger stretched out, the other in an upside-down OK position.
