Sheaths (Rev. 11)

Sheaths were an ability tested for the then-unnamed Samurai class. This information is retained for archivial purposes.

When activated, the player would teleport in the direction aimed, up to a range of 2.125 tiles. In addition, the player would fire an area-of-effect-like line in the same direction aimed, dealing damage to all enemies caught in the line.

The sheath was more risky because you teleported closer to the enemy you intended to attack using it. The nature of the sheaths gave players the potential to attack through solid block walls, and a straight line attack also made them more usable in tight confines compared to waki. The sheaths did less damage than the equivalent tiered wakizashi also being tested.

The waki was favored over the sheath by testers, and the sheaths have therefore been scrapped. The only sheath that currently exists in the game code is the Sheath0.

The sprites for the sheaths in testing matched with the color schemes of the katanas, making them look like actual sheaths for the katanas.

All sheaths had an attack width of 1.2 tiles and a max teleport range of 2.125 tiles.
