Pyyr the Crimson Dragon (Rev. 25)

Pyyr the Crimson Dragon

Pyyr the Crimson Dragon is one of the five bosses of the Lair of Draconis.

The Realm Eye says:
In an effort to challenge Limon’s authority, Oryx captured a Fire Sprite and fused it with the body of a fabled dragon.
Oryx has personally bred the captive dragon to obey his commands so that he may establish control over the elements.
The sprite trapped inside yearns to reunite with its original body, now an aimless soul without a host.

Behavior

WIP

Pyyr will start out lying dormant in the middle of the arena. Once enough damage is dealt, he will wake up. The room will fill with lava, save for a ring of floor circling Pyyr.

Crimson Soul Shard minions will then spawn. They must all be killed for this phase to end, and Pyyr is not damageable during this phase.

Once all the minions are killed, the lava will then recede. Pyyr will rush at the nearest player and chase them. Pyyr can now take damage.

After doing enough damage, Pyyr will return to the center of the room. He will fire alternating patterns of large fireballs, and smaller fireballs that armor break.

After doing enough damage again, Pyyr will once again become invincible. The lava will rise again to form the ring circling Pyyr, except there are now chunks of the ring “missing”, and lava is in their place. Once again, you’ll have to defeat the Crimson Soul Shards that spawn to end the phase.

The lava will recede, he’ll become vulnerable again, and you’ll go through the earlier second and third phases again (with additional shots from other dragons, if you’re to face him third or last) to end the fight.

Tips and Strategies

  • After all of Pyyr’s minions die in the first phase, Pyyr will quickly lunge toward the closest player. It is advisable to move far away from the group when almost all of the minions are dead.
  • The Armor Breaking shots, combined with multiple high-damage shots, can lead to a swift death. Be cautious.
  • If you have a small group, it is recommended to circle around Pyyr, dodging it’s minions’ shots so as to take as little damage as possible. Tanking or standing in one place is better if you have a large group through which you could cycle who takes damage.
  • Pyyr is very aggressive and has the potential to be extremely debilitating to melees. It’s highly recommended to be at least 2/8, maxed speed and defense, before attempting to fight.
