Fame Bonuses (Rev. 38)

Fame Bonuses are only applied after a character dies and are added to their base fame to determine the total fame received from the character.
The fame bonuses one’s (living) character currently has can be accessed via the statistics panel.

Achievement Bonus Description
Ancestor +10%,
+20 Fame
First death of any of your characters (one per account).
Legacy Builder +10%,
+10 Fame
Only earned once per class. Beat previous best level for this class.
  • Note: This bonus has been disabled as of Patch X.21.0.
  • Pacifist +25% Fame Never shot a bullet which hit an enemy. It doesn’t matter if non-zero damage was dealt or not. Ability damage does count only for abilities that shoot projectiles: quivers, spells, shields and stars. Requires level 20.
Thirsty +25% Fame Never drank a potion from inventory (this includes tinctures). You can still drink any potion (including Stat potions) as long as it is located in a loot bag on the ground or in your vault when you drink it. Health Potions and Magic Potions can be drank from their special inventory stack without affecting this fame bonus. Requires level 20.
Mundane +25% Fame Never used an ability. Requires level 20.
Boots on the Ground +25% Fame Never teleported - either via ability, or to another player. Requires level 20.
Tunnel Rat +10% Fame Granted upon completing certain dungeons. Only requires dungeons which are opened by realm portal drops, and you must exit the dungeon via the “Realm Portal” for it to count as completed. Returning to the Nexus either via hotkey or the Nexus button, after the dungeon boss is defeated, will not count as a completion. To get Tunnel Rat is necessary to complete: Aside from the above list, no other dungeons are necessary. A full list of dungeons and whether they are required for Tunnel Rat is found here.
Enemy of the Gods +10% Fame More than 10% of kills are gods. Requires level 20.
Slayer of the gods +10% Fame More than 50% of kills are gods. Requires level 20.

Explorer +5% Fame More than 1,000,000 tiles uncovered.
Cartographer +5% Fame More than 4,000,000 tiles uncovered.
Team Player (**) +10% Fame More than 100 party member level ups.
Leader of Men (**) +10% Fame More than 1,000 party member level ups.
Doer of Deeds +10% Fame More than 1,000 quests completed.
Friend of the Cubes +10% Fame Never killed a cube. Includes any of the following:
  • Red Gelatinous Cube
  • Green Gelatinous Cube
  • Purple Gelatinous Cube
  • Cube God
  • Cube Overseer
  • Cube Defender
  • Cube Blaster
  • The bonus is revoked upon killing the first cube. This includes the Ice and Sphere holiday reskins, but not the Turkey reskin. Cubes killed by pets do not count. Note that it is possible to do the Cube God event and retain this bonus. Just do not deal the killing blow or kill any of its minions. Requires Level 20.
Well Equipped Varies By wearing powerful items, you also get additional fame. The % is shown on the equipment, and is additive.
First born +10% Fame Best total fame (not necessarily base fame) of any of your previous incarnations.

    (*) Notes about accuracy
Accuracy = hits/shots. An effective way to increase your accuracy is to fire at stationary, invulnerable enemies, such as the Mysterious Crystal (when alone, or in small groups), or any of the three Tomb bosses before they activate. The easiest and most efficient way is to attack the turrets in the tutorial.

By using piercing weapons, it is possible to achieve over 100% accuracy. This is because one shot can count for more than one hit.

(**) Note about Level up Assists
Credit for this is given when your shot kills a monster and someone else gains a level because of the XP from that monster dying. It is not simply having people level up near you.

A general word of note is that earning progressive bonuses such as Cartographer will not replace the bonuses that precede them. For example, if you earn Cartographer, you will also receive the Explorer bonus in addition to the bonus from Cartographer. This stacking also applies to the Leader of Men, Sharpshooter, Sniper, and Slayer of the Gods bonuses.

It is also worth noting that some of these bonuses are permanent, meaning that when the conditions are fulfilled, they will remain fulfilled for the life of that character. Examples of permanent bonuses are Oryx Slayer and Doer of Deeds.

    Statistics Panel
Players can view the statistics of their living characters by either clicking on the fame icon associated with the desired character on the character select screen, or by clicking on the blue “i” icon next to the earned fame in the Nexus. This panel will show what bonuses the character would qualify for should it die as-equipped and at the amount of base fame it had earned up to that point.

    The Formula
Total fame is recalculated with each additional achievement. All bonuses stack as they are listed (i.e. ‘Explorer’ calculates only after ‘Sniper’ calculation). Each bonus is rounded down.

Example: If a character gained 100 base fame and earned the following bonuses: Mundane (25% bonus), Accurate (10% bonus) and Friend of the cubes (10% bonus), the process of calculation will look like:

    100 base fame
    100 fame * 0.25 = 25 fame (Mundane bonus)
    (100 + 25) fame * 0.1 = 12 fame (Accurate bonus rounded down)
    (100 + 25 + 12) fame * 0.1 = 13 fame (Friend of the Cubes bonus rounded down)

    Result: 100 + 25 + 12 + 13 = 150 fame

You are ultimately in control of most of the fame bonuses your character earns. Some bonuses are suitable if you simply want to earn all 5 quest stars with a specific class. Here are some example bonuses to go for and their boosts (First Born and Well Equipped not included). Note that the percentages shown are a rough percentage of the base fame that would become your total fame (calculated using 1000 base fame).
