The Crucible

The Crucible is an optional mode that allows players to complete Trials under specific restrictions for rewards. Some Trials can either make normal gameplay harder in a straightforward way or create unique situations where players must rethink their playstyle. Each Crucible Trial will have its own set of modifiers and rewards.

The Trials are specifically designed for the most skilled and daring players. Both seasonal & regular characters can participate in The Crucible. Rewards for completing Trials are redeemed either at The Tinkerer or in the menu for the Mission tree.

Accessing Crucible

To participate in The Crucible event, players must enable Crucible Challenge by interacting with the Guardian of The Crucible in the Nexus. Players can visit him to accept or opt out of the available Trials.
All characters are eligible to take on the Trials.

Crucible Characters

Characters with the Crucible challenge active will have modifiers relating to the current Trial until either the event ends or until you opt out.
Characters participating in the event will appear on the character selection list with yellow border.

Other players on Crucible characters will appear with a special red bar similar to the Seasonal Icon when hovering the cursor over them.

Trivia

This page is currently a work in progress.

• The “Pet Rock” modifier present during Season 1 is possibly derived from the rules for the Non-pet Player Experience (NPE), a variation of the Pet Player Experience, which itself is a self-imposed rule created by players in order to create challenge. NPE’s, as the name suggests, require that the player has no pets following them in order to prevent aid from pet abilities, which is something that the “Pet Rock” modifier emulates.
