Notes
Glancing at its base stats alone, this items seems unremarkable. Relative to the T14 Dominion Armor, it gains +4 ATT in exchange for a penalty of -5 DEF. In a similar vein to the Fire Dragon Battle Armor, it lends itself most to usage on the Knight, which is the weakest of the melee classes DPS-wise and has the most extra DEF to spare.

However, the Mad God’s Rage effect makes this a particularly noteworthy armor. Ever since the activation threshold was increased from 300 HP to 80% of maximum HP, the offensive buffs provided are much more reliable, granting a large boost to DPS, particularly in dungeons where one takes a lot of damage anyway. This tends to work best in the likes of most exaltation dungeons (e.g. Lost Halls, The Nest, Fungal Cavern),as they deal enough damage to activate Mad God’s Rage without necessarily putting the user at risk of death.

Oryx’s Sanctuary is perhaps a poor place to use it as the immense single-projectile damage numbers and the fact that at least two separate attacks are needed to trigger the effect (the first hit to bring you under 80% of maximum HP, and any second hit after that) mean that you will likely be running for your life pots any time this buff is active, unless you carefully choose certain shots to tank. In less difficult content, this item is also inferior to armors which provide unconditional offensive stats such as Mercy’s Bane, since Mad God’s Rage will take much longer to activate.

With good awareness of how to safely activate and exploit Mad God’s Rage, this is easily one of the most powerful DPS-focused heavy armors in the game, rivaling the likes of the aforementioned Mercy’s Bane and Gladiator Guard.
