Bard Class Guide (Rev. 4)

Note: This page is a work in progress.

History

Introduced in Build X.34, the Bard is the third bow class since the Huntress was introduced in Build 104 (September 2010). The Bard is also the first bow class to wear robe armor as opposed to the Leather Armor worn by Archer and Huntress. There is no class requirement to unlock Bard yet. However, he is only playable on the Exalt client. See his stat gains, caps and averages here.

Stats and Equipment

The Bard’s most exceptional stats are a wisdom cap of 75, and a MP cap of 385. His dexterity also caps at 70. However, his HP caps at 670, and his attack cap is only 55.

Weapon

Unlike other robe classes, the Bard’s choice of weapon is the bow. Bows provide bard with piercing and, at higher tiers, substantial crowd control capabilities. The untiered bow options provide Bard with a versatile arsenal. Do keep in mind, every individual shot fired counts against your accuracy, so be sure you land every shot if you want to go for maximum accuracy.

Bow of Innocent Blood Bow of Covert Havens Bow of Mystical Energy
The Bow of Innocent Blood (BBow) and Bow of Covert Havens (Covert) are among the best tiered bows available. The Bow of Mystical Energy is a slightly better tiered bow that is soulbound, dropping only from the Void Entity. These bows are exceptional for crowd control and dispatching low-defense enemies.

The Doom Bow and its reskins, Bow of the Morning Star and Sun’s Judgement are slow shooting, hard hitting untiered bows. Despite of the reduced rate of fire, Bard’s high Dexterity stat allows more rooms for errors. Unlike other bows, the Doom Bow/Morning Star benefits more from an attack ring rather than a dexterity ring, and a boost from a Paladin or a Warrior is able to pump the damage through the roof. Certain gods, such as Djinn, will die instantly to a single DBow shot, making them an easy target to remove quickly and have more room to deal with other gods. When running a dungeon with these bows, it is important to line up the targets to make each shot count. These bows can be considered the best bow to get soulbound damage in Event and Dungeon bosses, because of its high DPS and relative ease of use. It is recommended to max defense before using it to maximize your ability to survive. Also keep in mind that this bow does not have superior DPS to a tiered bow in situations where a Bard can safely approach an enemy with negligible defense. The Doom Bow is a rare and valuable item to obtain, be sure you don’t lose it!. Also unless weakened, the fairly-high damage (around 720 per shot with maxed Attack) will make enemy Defense a joke so it is amazing in Tomb, Shatters, Wine Cellar and other endgame dungeons with high Defense enemies.

Ability

The Bard’s choice of ability is the lute. Lutes provide a party buff known as “inspired.” Inspired increases weapon attack range by 25%. For example, a tiered bow (7.04 tiles) would have its range increased to 8.8 tiles under this effect. Higher tiered lutes also provide the user with a defense boost. The defense boost of tiered lutes is always 2 seconds shorter than the inspired duration. In addition, tiered lutes have a cooldown of 1 second longer than the inspired duration.

Regal Lute Skyward Lute
The Regal Lute and Skyward Lute are the best tiered lutes. They provide the longest, most mana-efficient inspired duration, and also provide the highest DEF boosts to Bard upon use.

Armor

Unlike other bow classes, the Bard wears robe armor. As a robe class, Bard benefits from a much larger mana capacity than other bow classes, at the cost of a slightly lower health capacity.

Robe of the Elder Warlock Robe of the Grand Sorcerer Robe of the Star Mother
The Robe of the Elder Warlock (Elder) and Robe of the Grand Sorcerer (GSorc) are among the best tiered robes available. The Robe of the Star Mother is the highest stat-wise, soulbound alternative found in high tier dungeons such as The Nest. These robes provide Bard with low defense, but increased mana capacity and stat boosts to attack and wisdom.
