Notes
Volcanic Sheath is the only sheath which possesses wismod, boosting its own damage output as the user’s wisdom increases, as every 5 wisdom boosts its damage and radius. With maxed wisdom and no other items boosting it, kensei can reach 71 wisdom, making the explosion do 600 instead of 400 damage. This may be useful when clearing larger groups of enemies, as dashing through them and landing behind them will provide the user with stacks to increase damage output when the dash ends.
The explosion occurs at the user’s final position after a charge. Due to the radius of the AoE, this sheath is great for dealing damage consistently. It can be particularly powerful when paired with the Resurrected Warrior’s Armor, which provides a notable +20 wisdom. Even without any ring, the total wisdom with all 5 stacks will result in a powerful 97 wisdom, resulting in a respectable 850 damage - totaling 2050 when including the trail damage.
Another quirk about this sheath that it is the only sheath in the game which has a cooldown of 2 seconds. This allows the user, given they have a pet with high-level magic heal, to dash constantly as the cool down ends in nearly the same amount of time it takes to expend all three dashes. Because of this, the sheath can be a very strong tool when rushing dungeons throughout early, mid, and endgame content. When in need of traversing a long distance in an open area, such as the realm, the Labyrinth Dweller’s Sheath may be more effective, however.
The description of this item currently does not note that its range increases with wisdom.
Trivia
“Perhaps its design reminded him of something?” is most likely a nod to the Demon Blade, as its colors are based on it nearly identically, and the Volcanic Sheath is a newer addition to the Abyss of Demons.
