Behavior

Slowly chases players and initially fires spreads of 4 black bolts that inflict extreme damage. He is attended by a group of assorted Lost Crusaders that will attack any nearby players.

Once at 3/4 HP, he will flash red and become invulnerable for a second or so. He will move slightly faster and also fire his shotgun faster.

Once at 1/2 HP, he will flash red and become invulnerable for a couple of seconds, spawning 2 Crusade Soldiers, 2 Crusade Shipwrights, and 1 Crusade Explorer. He will move and shoot even faster, and also gain the armored buff.

Finally, at about 1/4 HP, he will flash red, increasing his speed again. He will now shoot spreads of 8 black bolts at a rate slightly slower than the previous phase.

Tips and Strategies

This guy is one of the most dangerous enemies in the dungeon due to his enormous damage output and the fact that he spawns the rest of the Lost Crusaders. Kill him first to stop the stream of Crusaders, and try to stay away from him, as a full shotgun is guaranteed death to almost any class.

The commander is susceptible to stun, so Knights will be very useful when dealing with him. Trickster decoys are also extremely useful in diverting his attention from the group, especially with fewer people.
