Tips
With Patch X.20.0, Cutlass is now a very strong dps sword. Not taking status effects into account, it now beats Sword of Acclaim up to approximately 95 DEF on Knight and Paladin, and Sword of Splendor until 55 DEF. On Warrior, this is even higher, Acclaim only surpassing Cutlass at 125 DEF, and Splendor passing it at 75 DEF.

If one is used to playing with defense and range reduction, then this is a very good replacement for high-tier swords. The speed increase also allows for faster rushing.

Previously, to get the full effect of the Cutlass, it was recommended to bring a Shield of Ogmur, as this sword had a higher DPS than Acclaim against lower defense enemies, where the target has less than 14 DEF.

The Cutlass also can have uses in situations where the chances for dealing damage are way too quick for other swords, such as public Davy’s, where the boss’s vulnerable phases are known to end faster than a knight landing his stun when steamrolled, much less enough shots from slow firing weapons regardless of the damage per shot.
