Added as an ‘easter egg’ secret item in Build 96 (May 2010), along with Magic Mushroom.
This item used to be purchasable from the Nexus for 50 Fame somewhat over 6 years ago. It was then quite a rare drop and considered a collectable until Patch 32.4.1 (Jan 2020) where the drop rate of Pirate Rum was increased from a rare drop to a very common drop from Dreadstump the Pirate King.
