Notes
This is a Mistake Gear item.
This spell fires off 26 shots, which is more than any other spell in the game, however, the total average damage output is less than the T4 Destruction Sphere Spell. What redeems this item in terms of usability is its low mana cost (26 MP vs 70 MP), making it a more effective spell to use MP cost-wise.
Despite seemingly being a joke item, the Spelling Spell is actually the most cost-effective practical spell currently in the game. It offers 55 dmg/MP, a vast increase from the second-best spell for cost efficiency, that being the Sporous Spray Spell at 36.36 dmg/MP. However, its low base damage makes it less useful against enemies with high DEF.
Trivia
The spell’s shot count and MP cost are both a reference to the English alphabet which consists of 26 letters. The last sentence in the description is a spin on a popular proverb “We must learn to walk before we can run.”
The sprite of the spell resembles a soup can, likely alphabet soup going off of the theme of the item.
