This weapon has the same average damage of the Sword of Acclaim, but has a much wider damage variance. Its minimum base damage is a measly 20, while its maximum base damage is almost as much as that of a Doom Bow. Since it has the same range and fire rate as tiered swords, the Keychain Cutlass can serve as a viable, albeit inconsistent, alternative to said sword.
However, what makes the Keychain Cutlass truly stand out as a good alternative to Acclaim are its passive stat bonuses when equipped, providing a bonus to MP, VIT, and DEF. These bonuses make it uniquely powerful and alone are a good reason to equip this weapon, since as of the time of its release, it is the only sword to provide flat bonuses on equip without also having penalties.
The weapon’s description is likely a reference to the Keyblade from the game series Kingdom Hearts.
