Notes:

The Cutlass is a very strong DPS sword, but not as much as it once was. Not taking status effects into account, after the buffs to Halls Tops, it beats Sword of Acclaim up to approximately 95 DEF on Knight and Paladin, and Sword of Splendor until 20 DEF. On Warrior, this is even higher, Acclaim only surpassing Cutlass at 125 DEF, though Splendor passes it at a low 25 DEF.

If one is used to playing with defense and range reduction, then this is a very good replacement for high-tier swords, assuming you don’t have Splendor. The speed increase also allows for faster rushing.

The Cutlass also can have uses in situations where the chances for dealing damage are way too quick for other swords, such as a public Davy Jones’ Locker, where the boss’s vulnerable phases are known to end faster than a Knight landing his stun when steamrolled.

History:

With Patch X.20.0, the Cutlass was buffed. Originally, this item had a rate of fire of 120%, damage range of 184-231, projectile speed of 100, range of 3.25, no stat changes, a feed power of 500, and only gave a 4% Fame bonus.

Previously, to get the full effect of the Cutlass, it was recommended to bring a Shield of Ogmur, as this sword had a higher DPS than Acclaim against lower defense enemies, where the target had less than 14 DEF.
