While it may look bad at first sight, having less damage than a T3 Scorching Blast Spell, this spell has the property of ignoring the defense of the target, making it very effective on high-defense enemies. Against enemies with 39 or more Defense this spell has a higher average damage than the T6 Elemental Detonation Spell.
This item was previously named Ancient Spell: Pierce until Patch X.31.9.0 (Aug 2019) when a new soulbound version of the Twilight Archmage Set was released, including a new Ancient Spell: Pierce.
Under its previous name this spell was first made available in Release 27.3.1 (Feb 2015) through The Alchemist and was later added as a drop from Twilight Archmage. It used to drop in a cyan bag before the addition of orange bags in Patch X.18.0 (Sep 2017).
