Pet Maxing Guide (Rev. 15)

When pets were granted abilities in Release 12, the game fundamentally changed. Now the acquisition of a good pet is all but crucial for success in RotMG, as they provide permanent and major boosts to your account.

They may be improved either with Fame or Realm Gold by feeding them items with feed power. Upgrading the Pet Yard to improve your pet also costs Fame or Gold. As such, getting a good pet without paying typically requires a fair amount of fame and decent (often untiered) feed items.

Getting the Pet you want

Until you find a pet with the perfect set of abilities, you should hatch all eggs that they find. There is a maximum limit of 50 pets, though you can always release common pets that you don’t need.

The most sought-after abilities are Heal and Magic Heal. They both give an unprecedented amount of regeneration; most damage abilities are middiling by comparison. Typically, Electric or Decoy are favored as third abilities. Ability order is important; the third ability is only unlocked at Legendary and takes a comparatively massive amount of FP to level up.

Common and Uncommon Humanoid eggs will always have either Heal or Magic Heal as their first ability. However, don’t let that discourage you from using or buying other eggs.

Getting Pet Eggs

Drops from https://www.realmeye.com/wiki/pet-eggs.
Since DECA took control of ROTMG, drop rates across the board has been significantly improved. Rare eggs in particular; you still need to try to hatch many common eggs to find the pet with the ability that you want, but upgrading to Rare is still a lot.

Eggs with rarity up to Rare are tradable. Even Rare eggs are not that expensive; they are tradable for potions, such as 1 GLife.

Claim at https://www.realmeye.com/wiki/login-seer
Since the Exalt Client came out, the Login Seer often (if not always) provides a Common Humanoid Egg after a few days of logging in. This option may be revoked in the future, but as mentioned, guarantees a Heal or Magic Heal pet.

Leveling

For information on the mechanics of feeding, see https://www.realmeye.com/wiki/pet-feeding

The fastest way to find feed power is spending real money, followed by trading for it if you have decent wealth. As of Exalt Version 2.0.0.0 (Aug 2021), UT items, which have high feed powers, were made tradable again. Historically, Wine Cellar Incantations were used to feed pets, but now many higher FP items are available.

COMMON / UNCOMMON FEED GUIDE

You can start by trading various stat potions for GLife, which you can then trade for Life. Then, trade them for the aformentioned Wine Cellar Incantation, which is worth 500 FP. They drop from many different sources; so there’s going to be many that are left unpopped.

An alternative is unwanted equipment such as T13 Armor & less desirable T12 weapons, such as the Bow and Dagger.

RARE FEED GUIDE

Put an offer up on realmeye for everything item with 700 or higher fp, 1 Greater Life each. Don’t be nervous. I have brought plenty of doom bow, coral bow, fulimination scepter, mad lab robe, doku katana, esben staff, esben skull, esben ring, demon blade, and etc… before for 1 glife even though the market price is around 4-16glifes for those(DECA ring). People have classes they prefer and find some classes useless, they are willing to get ride of equipment they don’t need to clear up storage space, or it’s that other higher priced buyers are not online, so if they want to get rid of it fast and are unwilling to wait, they can only pick you who is buying it at a low price. Dont expect too much, like 60% of it will be lower tiered whites like planewalker cloak, celestial mace, or blues like coral armor.

Pro trading tip: Keep 1 of every item that your buying, feed the rest. At 700fp most of them are white bags, so they are worth something. Resell them for 1 DECA each, again don’t be nervous no one will buy it, people will because again other sellers may not be online and they have no choice since your the only one online. Or you were lucky and got some rare enough equipment that actually markets for a Deca. Any ways, you brought it for 1glife and resell it for a deca which is 16glife. 16fold profit. It’s enought to keep you afloat and not go broke from buying all those stuff to feed.. I actually started to accumlate some wealth after doing that for like the 1 month that 1 was maxing 4 rare pets. I had like maybe 32 Decas in my vault by the time I was done. But it also means you will have to manage a lot of offers. Like 60-80ish buy offers + like 20-30ish sell offers. It will easily be over 100ish offers.

The reason I’m pricing all buys regardless of rarity at 1glife and sells at 1 deca ring is because it’s easier to manage all those offers, I obviously know a planewalker and a candy coated armor is very different in value but I still buy it at 1 GLIFE and sell it at 1 deca.

Fusing

For information on the mechanics of fusing, see Pet Fusing.

When fusing, it is crucial that the player understands what they are doing, or it is quite possible that the pet will be permanently ruined. When fusing your pets, make sure that you get the message that the fusion is MAXED before completing the fuse; both pets must have the highest level possible for their rarity level for their first ability (30 for common, 50 for uncommon and 70 for rare), as the resulting pet’s first ability level will be the average of the first ability levels for the two fusing pets. The maximum level for the resulting pet will be 20 above the initial level.

For example, if you fused two common pets at levels 30 and 20, the resulting uncommon would be level 25, with a max level of 45. This is in comparison to the result if you fused the common pets when both were at level 30, which would result in a max level of 50. Do note that once you get to rarity levels with multiple unlocked abilities (uncommon and above), the level of the second or thrid abilities has no effect on the maximum ability level of the pet; only the first ability level will impact this. The second ability level of each fusing pet will only have an impact on the initial level of the resulting pet’s second ability, and will not effect the max level.

If you have a pet with a lower maximum level than the rarity level (below 30 for common, below 50 for uncommon or below 70 for rare), note that there is no way to fix the pet and you must start over with a new pet if you wish to improve your situation.
