Notes
The Bottled Medusa is an interesting alternative to the Assassin’s tiered poisons. Instead of infecting enemies with poison on impact, it lobs a single Medusa that remains stationary where it has been launched, releasing bursts of damage every half-second, essentially making it a short-lived, stationary Purple Drake Egg in action.
While its total damage is high (600 more than the Murky Toxin for the same MP cost and a higher true range), there are a few catches to it. It doesn’t work well on rapidly-moving enemies, because as soon as they exit the Medusa’s area of effect, they stop getting affected by the bursts of damage. If an enemy becomes invulnerable halfway through, they stop getting affected by the Medusa altogether, unlike the more classic poisons that bypass enemy invulnerability if they’ve been infected prior to switching it on.
This, coupled with a very high MP cost, makes it preferable to keep it as a swapout, with a tiered poison in hand alongside.
