Notes
The Bottled Medusozoan is an interesting alternative to the Assassin’s tiered poisons. Instead of infecting enemies with poison on impact, it lobs a single Cnidarian that remains stationary where it has been launched, releasing bursts of damage every half-second, essentially making it a short-lived, stationary Purple Drake Egg in action.
While its total damage is high (1010 more than the Murky Toxin for the 20 MP cost less and a higher true range), there are a few catches to it. It doesn’t work well on rapidly-moving enemies, because as soon as they exit the Cnidarian’s area of effect, they stop getting affected by the bursts of damage. If an enemy becomes invulnerable halfway through, they stop getting affected by the Cnidarian altogether, unlike the more classic poisons that bypass enemy invulnerability if they’ve been infected prior to switching it on.
This, coupled with a very high MP cost, makes it preferable to keep it as a swapout, with a tiered poison in hand alongside.
This is what the Cnidarian looks like in action:
