Notes
Part of the Legacy Skuld 2 The ReGhostening set.

A slightly weaker but tradeable version of the Etherite Dagger. It has relatively high damage, but lacks range.

Can be used well on the Rogue, since the cloak allows you to get close to actually hit with the dagger. As usual, Rogues don’t work well in large groups, as enemies will shoot at other players instead.

This item has remained unsoulbound throughout its time in the game, and is often used in high-value trading exchanges between players, and as a way for players to compact their stored wealth. This is due weapon’s enduring desirability and resaleability as one of the best unsoulbound daggers.

This weapon is outdamaged by the T13 Moonstone Blades until 25 DEF (on an Assassin with no buffs). In addition, players may prefer the T13 Dagger of Dire Hatred. Despite the regular T13 dagger being outdamaged by the Legacy Etherite at all reasonable DEF levels, tiered daggers have a much higher range. Thus a tiered dagger may be more practical.

When the entire Legacy Skuld set is equipped, the weapon projectile changes to:
Spooky Sparkle

History

Added in Release 27.2.0 (Dec 2014) under its original name Etherite Dagger.

This item was first released via the Alchemist and caused controversy as, due to sharing characteristics with the soulbound UT Dirk of Cronus (higher DPS and lower range than a tiered dagger), it was viewed as being a way of introducing an equivalent item for sale via the nexus shop. With Etherite being tradeable, and arguably an even better item than Dirk of Cronus was at that time, it was felt that Etherite thus devalued and undermined the Dirk’s worth.

Etherite Dagger was not added as a drop until Sep 2016 when as part of an ‘ST Weekend’ event it was added to Ghost of Skuld (at double drop rate throughout the event), and it remained an ongoing drop after the event ended in Patch 27.7.X5 (Sep 2016).

It used to drop in a cyan bag before the addition of orange bags in Patch X.18.0 (Oct 2017).

This dagger used to give +4 VIT and +4 WIS. However in Patch X.20.0 (Dec 2017) this bonus was moved to the Spectral Ring of Horrors as a rebalance within the ST set. The damage was also tweaked: 116-214 (av: 165) -> 115-215 (av: 165).

In Patch X.23.0.0 (May 2018) the item was given a rework to balance it versus the UT Dirk of Cronus, changing:

  • Rate of Fire: 109% -> 110%
  • Damage: 115-215 (av. 165) -> 110-215 (av. 162.5)
  • Shot Speed: 190 -> 160
  • Range: 3.99 -> 3.84

In Patch X.32.1.0 (Oct 2019) the item was renamed to Legacy Etherite Dagger upon the release of a new soulbound version of the weapon: Etherite Dagger. The original-now-Legacy version was removed as a drop at this time.
