Notes
Part of the Hollow King Necromancer Set.

This skull is the only one that is not subject to the WisMod, as well as not having a passive HP bonus. This skull is also uniquely unable to heal, and is used purely for damage. This skull makes the Skull of Endless Torment obsolete damage-wise as it does the most of any skull and bypasses all defense in most circumstances (save for enemies with exceptionally high defense, like the Tormented Golem, the various Parasite Chambers colonies & the Nightmare Colony).

It has a pretty good radius, and is the only skull to self-buff. It also gives a bonus of 5 VIT, which is useful for reducing time while In Combat.

This unique, situational item is best used as a swapout and should never be your only skull. It is very useful in situations where healing is unnecessary, turning a Necromancer into a damage-dealing machine that can melt their way through enemy HP in seconds. However, the Skull’s bonus HP is the only thing stopping the Necromancer from becoming as squishy as his fellow robe classes, so before equipping it make sure that you’re fine with a severe loss in durability.

Compared to a Wizard’s spell, a Memento Mori barely needs to be aimed, and its main DPS feature is its 3-second Damaging buff. Since a spell has so many shots, its total damage is reduced by quite a bit when dealing with a high-defense enemy, blocking a noticeable fraction of the damage from each shot. In contrast, the Memento Mori deals 400 armor-piercing damage. Also, note that the Hollow King Set is ATT rather than DEX-oriented, and in particular the Toga Picta gives ATT at the cost of DEX. ATT is more useful than DEX when dealing with high DEF enemies. A Memento-wielding or ST Necromancer can get more DPS on enemies with high DEF than a Wizard with a Tiered spell.

The +10 ATT on equip helps boosts the Necromancer’s already high attack stat.

Its name roughly translates to “remember that you have to die” in Latin, and is actually a Latin Christian theory and practice of reflection on mortality.
