Part of the Phylactery Mystic set.
Although this staff has a higher base damage than the Staff of the Cosmic Whole, it has a -20% rate of fire which makes the overall base DPS less than that of the Staff of Astral Knowledge. The range reduction is also to take into account, comparable to that of Bow classes.
The Staff of the Cosmic Whole completely outclasses this staff in terms of DPS until 67/79/80 DEF, which makes it a very situational if not poor choice in general, best kept for enemies with very high defense such as the Sarcophagus or the Stone Guardians or for when the entire Phylactery Mystic set is collected.
This item, and the other pieces of the Phylactery Mystic Set, previously also dropped from the Lair of Draconis. In Release 27.7.XMAS, the items were removed as drops from the dungeon and replaced with the Dragon Tamer Set.
