Rarely brandished and in pristine condition, the old monarchy deemed this exquisite recurve too dignified for all but royalty to handle. Though it remains unproven in practical combat, this bow’s raw potential is unmatched, waiting to be drawn out through pure focus. |

Notes
At first glance, this bow is ridiculous, outdamaging every bow except a 5-shot Predator Bow at lowish DEF, at one of the highest ranges in the game (8 tiles). This true range requires a bit more precision than an ordinary bow. While the Warmonger’s true range isn’t boosted by the Bard’s Inspired, the range still surpasses its endgame competitor, the Void Bow. In terms of damage: Warmonger will do more DPS than the Void Bow until ~33/26 DEF and the Harmonious Harp until ~59/47 DEF. But this comes at a cost: whenever you get In Combat, you’ll face a nasty -10 DEX decrease - effectively making you weaker than the Leaf Bow.
Regardless, this bow has no competitor for clearing gods and low-level dungeons alike. This content is less likely to send you In Combat, while you enjoy the Warmonger’s high range, high damage, two shots (more likely to hit a shot), and the ability to pierce. It is also great in situations where just a few stray hits can put you in a dicey situation, like with Oryx 3.
The Exalted God’s Horn works well with this bow, as both items incentivize not getting hit. If you are still above 90% HP, the horn’s DEX boost and the Warmonger’s DEX decrease will cancel out, allowing for more effective usage.
On a Bard, the Mantle of the Monarchy gives a massive VIT boost on proc, which reduces the In Combat duration, which reduces the debuff duration. This can be combined with the Noble Mandolin (as it gives damage, but not an ineffective Inspired) and the Forgotten Crown (or His Majesty’s Eminence, as an amazing standalone ring) for a matching and overall great endgame UT set.
Trivia
This bow’s effect of reducing Dexterity could be influenced from the scrapped Ancient Doom Bow, as that bow would have given the player Dazed after taking enough damage.
History
Before Exalt Version 2.3.1.0 (Apr 2022), the Warmonger reduced DEX by 15, and stacked oddly with DEX buffs. For example, the Exalted God’s Horn would not only fully negate the DEX decrease, but it would add its own buff on top of it, as if the former’s proc didn’t happen.
Before Exalt Version 2.3.2.0 (Jun 2022), this item was an S-tier (now SS) item, costing 45 (and others) to craft. Like other items, the Warmonger didn’t require other Shatters items to make.
