The Tome of Holy Protection (or “Prot”) is a fairly practical tome which grants a decent boost in stats and Armored, which boosts effective defense by 50%. A maxed Priest will often find defenses in the 60+ range, comparable to a heavy armor class. With a good WIS/MP ring (or a very high leveled pet with Magic Heal), the Priest can sustain this effect permanently. Therefore, it is a more defensive alternative to tiered tomes, useful for rushing dungeons like the Abyss of Demons and acting as a “cushion” in all sorts of other dangerous scenarios. Note that Armored does not reduce the In Combat threshold.
This tomes also heals a fair amount (equal to the T4 Tome of Renewing with no Healing), making a Priest with Prot easily one of the hardiest classes in the game. However, it sports the highest cost of all tomes (150 MP), alongside the Chaotic Scripture. Therefore, a tiered tome and/or a Tome of Purification is recommended as a swap for group support, assuming you don’t have a Tome of the Mushroom Tribes available.

For every 10 Wisdom over 50, an additional 30 points of HP is added to base heal (140), eg; 60 WIS = 170 HP, 70 WIS = 200 etc. Note no additional HP is added in between multiples of 10, eg; 75 WIS = 200 HP.
For every 1 Wisdom over 50, an additional 0.1 tiles of range is added to the base range (6), eg; 60 WIS = 7 tiles, 75 WIS = 8.5 tiles.
For every 10 Wisdom over 50, an additional 1 second of Armored is added to base time (4), eg; 60 WIS = 5 seconds 70 WIS = 6 seconds etc. Note no additional time is added in between multiples of 10, eg; 75 WIS = 6 seconds.
