Ghost Ship

Ghost Ship

The Ghost Ship is an event boss that can spawn multiple times per realm. It has a guaranteed chance to drop a portal to Davy Jones’ Locker.

Found within the Realm is an eerie ship manned by the dead. Once destroyed, the remains can be entered, but beware: Davy Jones still haunts this vessel. (Steam Trading Card: Ghost Ship of Davy Jones)

The Realm Eye says:
The Ghost Ship is the accursed vessel captained by the great Davy Jones. It was once the prized flagship of the Royal Navy, but was commandeered by Jones’s men.
The ship inscribed an immortal legacy of terror, but was eventually sunk and dragged out of the seas by Oryx’s forces in revenge for stalling his alcohol supply.
The ship was doomed to float about in a small lake atop a mountain, with the crew’s souls bound to its deck in sheer loyalty to their captain.

Behavior

The Ghost Ship is initially found dormant in the center of its setpiece. It will remain dormant until sufficient damage has dealt to it, upon which it will temporarily turn invulnerable and darken before attacking.

Throughout the whole fight, the Ghost Ship will constantly spawn Beach Spectres on the beach.

Phase 1

The Ghost Ship fires rapid spreads of small cannonballs at the nearest player. It will also constantly summon Vengeful Spirits and Water Mines to charge at you. Every now and then it will taunt “Fire at will!” and start firing faster spreads of both small and large cannonballs at the nearest player for a short time.

Phase 2

Upon reaching about 5/6 of its HP, the Ghost Ship begins firing small cannonballs, alternating between firing them along the cardinal or intermediate directions. It will also start firing giant aimed cannonballs at the nearest player. Like before, it still summons minions.

From this phase onwards, occasionally the Ship will go invulnerable and taunt “Ready…”, “Aim…”, and “FIRE!” in rapid succession, before firing rapid multi-directional shotguns of small cannonballs while firing bursts of giant ones along the cardinal/intermediate directions. After doing this for a couple of seconds, it will resume its normal attack pattern.

Phase 3

Upon reaching about 1/3 of its HP, the Ship summons a ring of Tempest Clouds which orbit it while firing radial bursts of lightning to trap players. Besides this, its behavior remains the same as Phase 2. At about 1/6 HP, it will summon more Tempest Clouds that will double the density of the ring. This phase lasts until death.

Once the Ghost Ship has been defeated, it will spawn a small island in the center of the setpiece for the Davy Jones’ Locker portal to spawn on.

Tips and Strategies

Try to get near the boss before it is activated. The tempest clouds and beach spectre make it difficult to get near the boss once activated without max def. This is not a robe class battle, unless you can dodge very well, as you can be quickly killed without max def. Make sure to move away from the mines and dodge the cannonballs. Any somewhat maxed (2/8+) character can easily do this event boss.
