Notes
Part of the Agents of Oryx Abilities.
This Orb can be seen as a counterpart to the Orb of Aether, deploying a stationary hazard instead of casting an area of paralysis. Rather than impairing enemies, this orb is all about damage - dealing very heavy AoE damage over the beacon’s duration and Cursing those hit for a long time. As the cherry on top, it provides nice offensive boosts on equip, while also giving a good ATT buff every 30 seconds.
Like the Bottled Medusozoan and Sporous Spray Spell, it can inflict severe damage - dealing 1,500 damage and an effectively 11-second curse if all 3 blasts hit. Also like them, positioning is important to use this Orb well, as the beacon cannot be redeployed until the old one vanishes. In addition, the 3 blasts aren’t identical, as they sequentially increase in damage/Curse duration but decrease in radius to. Doing max damage is reliant on hitting all 3 blasts, so luring enemies may be advised. It also suffers against enemies with fast movement or frequent invulnerability periods, as the beacon may not be able to land all 3 blasts against them. In contrast, it’s highly effective against enemies that don’t move much.
The Orb of Conquest does not inflict Stasis or any form of crowd-control debuff. While this can be detrimental, it may also be beneficial in situations where Stasis is undesirable and can be easily traded out for high, wide-area DPS.
The beacon is marked on the minimap by a dark red dot and has the following sprite:
