Class Advice

Melee Tips

One of the main focuses of this dungeon was to prevent it from being steamrolled by knights, and to make it not impossible to solo. With this in mind, melee classes have a tough time in this dungeon, as the shots the dragons fire, while avoidable from a distance, are extremely hard to dodge from sword range. So, while ranged classes are recommended if you want to try to complete this dungeon, if you want to survive as a melee class, try to:

  • Get your damage in quick, and get out, staying in deep will get you killed.
  • Don’t be afraid to sit off to the side and heal up (except on ivory and red dragons). Some people may refer to this as leeching, but in the end, your life is more important.
  • Watch out for the armor breaks, those will kill you along with sick if you’re too far in.
  • If you are a melee support class (paladin or warrior), buff all of the other ranged classes if you are too scared/laggy to go deep.
  • Try to stay near the support classes, melee in a LoD is never the best idea, and you’ll need heals often.

Ranged Classes

In the LoD, there really isn’t too much else to really focus on except shooting at the dragon you’re fighting (or minions/eggs), and dodging as much as you can. If you have a bow, this will come in handy at the red dragon when you have to kill the minions to fight the dragon, because bows pierce. Everything you would normally do while playing your class still applies when you’re fighting in the Lair.

Why and how to find the Lair of Draconis

Why

Stat Increase Potions Potion of Mana Potion of Life T12 Weapons T13 Armors Annoying Firecracker Katana Leaf Dragon Hide Armor Water Dragon Silk Robe Fire Dragon Battle Armor Midnight Star Wine Cellar Incantation

The dragons are a good source of all pots, and can drop tops. However, life will only drop if the dragons are “Hardmoded” (Black dragon done first). In addition to that, there are 3 white bag UT armors, a white bag UT shuriken, and a white bag vanity katana. However, note that the Fire Dragon Battle Armor, Midnight Star and arguably the Water Dragon Silk Robe are the only ones with any real utility, as the katana and Leaf Dragon Hide are both infamously useless. And as with most bosses, all bosses have a chance to drop incs.

How

Aside from being purchasable in the nexus, the lair drops from the rock dragon (not 100%), a one-time event in the realm.

The Lair of Draconis

In The Lair of Draconis, players will spawn in the center, near a dragon soul altar with dragon souls orbiting around it. It will tell players to name the color of the dragon that the players want to “console” with. Once a player names a color, the same colored dragon soul will open a hidden hallway and lead the players to a sleeping dragon. Once players are close enough, the dragon will wake up, starting the fight and at the same time, closing the hallway with a certain barrier. If you are “crushed” by the barrier by any chance, you will be KICKED off of the server, killing your chance for some excellent loot. So in other words, run as fast as you can with character through the rapidly closing hallway. Each dragon is unique to its color element and use attacks similar to its color. Each one had its own minions, weak, and are just simple annoyances to the player. However, some of them can cause status effects, softening you up for a deadly boss attack.

The Dragons on easy-mode

Okay, okay, the dragons are not exactly easy, well in comparison to their harder and buffed counterparts, they are much easier. Below the following, I will tell you about each of the dragons in easy mode, placing them in the order of easy to hardest. Please consider the fact that if Feargus, the black dragon, is battled at any time, any dragons following after him will become set on hard mode.

Limoz

Often known as the softest of the four dragons. With no serious status effects, players will easily shred Limoz to bits with the help of the teammates. Limoz will continuously fly around firing shotguns and summoning Veridian Hatchlings, or in other words, its minions. They will wander around, slowly approaching players and firing harmless shots. Overtime, Limoz will summon a shield of moving objects and still can be hit by classes that have piercing weapons. After Limoz is defeated, a test chest will appear in the center of the room.

Nikao

A notably harder dragon than Limoz, many players often debate whether Nikao is one of the most difficult dragons in the dungeon, along with Pyrr and Feargus. Players should note that in the center of the room, there will be a pool of dark water in which Nikao will usually stand in for a large portion of the battle. The water will hinder classes with shorter range, due to its slowing effects as a liquid. Long range characters will fire away at ease, only to be bothered by its annoying minions. Its minions will approach players and chase them at a distance, firing long range shots. For a large portion of the battle, Nikao will stand in the puddle of water that is in the center of the room, continuously firing 360 shots that can be easily dodged with long range classes. It highly advised not to tank them in, for they can give you slowed, making you more likely to be hit by bullets, or to be finished off by his minions. After Nikao has taken significant damage, it will begin to orbit around the edges of the room, firing large, fast, and hard hitting bullets aimed at players. During this phase, it will be extremely difficult to hit Nikao, but be patient, as it will drop excellent loot. Once it is defeated, he will create a test chest in the center of the room.

Pyrr

Possibly the most dangerous of the 4 main dragons. Pyrr is known for being especially detrimental to melees. When activated, (just walk up to him), Pyrr starts to fill the room with lava, leaving a 5 tile wide circle for players to stand on. During this phase Pyrr will spawn its minions and shoot 8 high-damage bullets in 8 different directions. Its minions will start to circle players, firing powerful shots at them. Only focus on survival as Pyrr is invincible during this phase. It’s recommended to have a priest or a paladin, as the high-damage bullets from the minions will quickly kill most players. After a while Pyrr will flash and enter his second phase, where it will begin shooting and chasing the nearest player. Get as much damage in as possible before he goes back to phase 1. If you’re an unmaxed melee, it’s best just stay out of the fight, as Pyrr shoots armor breaking shots at high damage. Once Pyrr is defeated, a test chest will spawn in the center of the room.

Feargus

Feargus, the buffing dragon, buffs all of the other 3 dragons into hard-mode if defeated first. Feargus is extremely hard to defeat if fought with a small group. In the four corners of the room, there will be a small wall that can shelter players from his dangerous bullets. During the battle, Feargus will summon clone versions of itself and will orbit around the center of the room, shooting at players. Be careful of dodging its bullets, for each one gives a designated status effect, red will give bleeding, black will give pet stasis, blue will give slowed, and vise versa. With its continuous spray of bullets, Feargus will be difficult to approach, making it one of the hardest dragons in the dungeon. Be mindful of your location, as being in the center of the room is very dangerous because Feargus can very quickly return to the center, firing bullets around itself that could easily kill a maxed character. Feargus is easy for long range, but melees will find themselves in a bit of a jam due to getting hit by the armor breaking bullets. When defeated, A test chest will spawn in the center of the room.

The Dragons on hard-mode

You thought the dragons were easy on easy mode? Now, to the hard part. In order to go to this mode, you’ll have to battle Feargus first before any other dragon. When done, you should notice that the dragons appeared to be super buffed and have a different name like from Pyrr the Crimson Dragon to Pyrr the Wicked. Also consider the fact that in hard mode, the difficulty of each dragon is much different than the dragons on easy mode.

Pyrr

At first it was considered the hardest dragon in easy mode, now it becomes the easiest, because as the rest of the dragons get a complete buff, Pyrr stays the same except for a few bullet buffs. Even if you are a fragile long ranged class, don’t sweat! All you have to do is to follow my tips. When Pyrr begins the phase where he sits in the center of the room, firing a bunch of different bullets and turning the room into a ring with lava, you’ll have to circle the outer part of the ring, while allowing the little dragons to chase you. Then, you shoot the dragons while circling the ring. Once all the little dragons are killed, the lava will then disappear, and Pyrr is after you! When in this chase phase, keep on running in big circles, allowing Pyrr to chase you. In the meantime, keep shooting while running in circles so that you could take some damage on him while keeping away from his bullets. When Pyrr goes back to the lava phase, repeat this over and over until Pyrr dies!
