The Crawling Depths is guaranteed to drop from the Sting Spider, a rare enemy found within the Mountains.
The Crawling Depths Key () can also be purchased in the Nexus for 100 .
Finding The Crawling Depths quickly and efficiently can be achieved through finding a semi-empty Realm and running around the Mountains until a Sting Spider is spotted. This task is best performed on fast and/or resilient classes such as Warrior, Rogue or Ninja. However be sure to tread carefully, as minor god walls can still form.
The Crawling Depths is a reliable source of Defense, Wisdom and Mana, dropping a guaranteed Greater Potion of Defense, Greater Potion of Wisdom and Potion of Mana for a minimum of two people. The dungeon also holds the UT Doku No Ken as well as two STs, the Symbiotic Ripper and Rags of the Host.
The Doku No Ken is the sole white bag of The Crawling Depths. It is a mid-tier katana dropping from the boss, Son of Arachna, as well as within the treasure room from Glowing Eggs.
The Symbiotic Ripper and Rags of the Host are two pieces of the Flesh Collector Set, an ST set for the Assassin. Both pieces drop from the Son of Arachna and Glowing Eggs.
The Crawling Depths is arguably one of the best sources for stat increase potions due to the frequency and varitey of drops.
The following is a table of notable drops from each enemy (if any):
Enemy | Item/s |
---|---|
Son of Arachna |
|
Glowing Egg |
|
Blue Son of Arachna Giant Egg Sac |
|
Green Son of Arachna Giant Egg Sac |
|
Red Son of Arachna Giant Egg Sac |
|
Silver Son of Arachna Giant Egg Sac |
The Crawling Depths dungeon layout follows a singular chain of rooms with no wrong turns and no dead ends. Each room is roughly circular and contains various obstacles and Egg Sacs. The ground contains continuous channels of web, which slow the players movement when standing in (comparable to water).
Rushing this dungeon is easier than most for its level of difficulty (harder than the Woodland Labyrinth however easier than the Mountain Temple). The rusher must do their best to avoid getting caught on the webs or inflicted with Slowed or Armor Broken, inflicted by the Crawling Weaver Spider and Crawling Grey Spotted Spider / Crawling Goliath Spider respectively, as these can almost always result in close calls or death.
A treasure room is not guaranteed to be encountered; when it is encountered however it will replace one of the rooms on the path to the boss. It will be filled entirely with Glowing Eggs, however loot from these treasure rooms is quite scarce, due to the low drop rates presented by the Glowing Eggs.
The Crawling Depths Egg Sac is home to all of the lesser cave spiders within the dungeon, when it is killed or a player comes within a roughly two tile radius multiple spiders corresponding with its colour will spawn, i.e.
The Crawling Spider Hatchling and Crawling Hunter Spider are the least deadly of the five spider types, inflicting Quiet with their attacks. The Crawling Spider Hatchling is the weakest of all spiders within the dungeon and is easily killed. The Crawling Hunter Spider slowly chases players, firing 3-5 shot shotguns of quieting shots.
The Crawling Green Spider and Crawling Weaver Spider are the agressors of the spider types. The Crawling Green Spider will quickly rush at players, firing 2 to 3 shot spreads of bullets that inflict Bleeding. The Crawling Weaver Spider is much more deadly, firing bursts of shots that inflicts Slowed aswell as a more damaging, targetted shot which applies Bleeding.
The Crawling Red Spotted Spider and Crawling Creeper Spider are the designated bleeders of the 5 spider types. Both of the spiders will keep their distance, firing rings/bursts of Bleeding shots.
The Crawling Grey Spider and Crawling Stalker Spider are the damage dealers of the 5 spider groups, dealing pure damage with no added inflictions. Both spiders will charge at the closest player, shooting high speed projectiles that deal the more damage than all other spiders’ attacks.
The Crawling Grey Spotted Spider and Crawling Goliath Spider are two of the deadliest spiders within the dungeon, both inflicting Armor Broken with their attacks. The Crawling Grey Spotted Spider can be dealt with rather easily, however the Crawling Goliath Spider quickly rushes at players in intervals while firing arrows of shots, making it much more dangerous. These are best dealt with by dragging them into a previously cleared room avoiding ground webs wherever possible, as if combined with Slowed or webs these can be particularly deadly.
Glowing Eggs are found within the treasure room of The Crawling Depths. These are indicated on the map by a yellow dot and have a yellowy-gold shadow colour. Many of these will spawn within the treasure room if you are lucky enough to encounter it.
The Son of Arachna is the boss of The Crawling Depths. He is found is large circular room that can be accessed through breaking 4 webbed walls located at the bottom of the room.
Located within the boss room will be the Son of Arachna in the center, four coloured eggs at each four “corners,” and multiple Crawling Depths Egg Sacs littering the outskirts of the room.
The boss fight will start when a player approaches the center of the room, upon which the Son of Arachna will activate. He will alternate between vulnerable and invulerable throughout the fight, as each time an egg is destroyed, he will become vulnerable for about 1/4 of his health each time.
More information of the Son of Arachna’s behaviour can be found here.
Each fight, a random egg will be selected to be “webbed,” meaning that egg can only be destroyed after all other eggs have been destroyed. Destroying an egg will alter the Son of Arachna’s behaviour and projectiles depending on its colour.
Destroying the Blue Son of Arachna Giant Egg Sac will remove the Energized status effect from the Son of Arachna, preventing him from spawning greater cave spiders. Destroying this egg will also remove the Son of Arachna’s blue quieting projectile.
Destroying the Green Son of Arachna Giant Egg Sac will remove the Speedy status effect from the Son of Arachna, greatly slowing his speed. Destroying this egg will also remove the Son of Arachna’s green slowing projectile.
Destroying the Red Son of Arachna Giant Egg Sac will remove the Damaging status effect from the Son of Arachna, removing Armor Piercing from all his projectiles. Destroying this egg will also remove the Son of Arachna’s red Bleeding projectile.
Destroying the Silver Son of Arachna Giant Egg Sac will remove the Armored status effect from the Son of Arachna, reducing his defense by 50%. Destroying this egg will also remove the Son of Arachna’s purple exposing projectile.
If the opportunity presents itself, it is advised to destroy the blue egg followed by the green egg, and then the red egg followed by the silver egg. Destroying the blue egg first is advised to remove the opportunity for any greater cave spiders to spawn within the boss room.
The Crawling Depths is a high-risk, high-reward dungeon that has the potential to drop multiple stat increase potions each time along with powerful mid-tier equipment which can carry characters through many endgame dungeons. The dungeon can be completed quickly and efficiently with a decently sized group along with a rusher, making it a worthwhile option when pot farming.
